InfoTech: SirsiDynix’s Horizon/Corinthian Merged into Symphony

by Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 7/5/2007 5:36:00 AM

SirsiDynix already has dumped the Rome name (they did say it was temporary) for its new platform, and it seems like Horizon/Corinthian may also have been put out to pasture, with a new joint ILS combining features from both systems being called Symphony. Along with the usual trappings, Symphony also includes modules for Books by Mail, Collection Exchange, new portal powers, and web-based staff clients. Symphony’s initial release is expected by fourth quarter of this year. The vendor also has upgraded its Enterprise Portal Solution with new features including a spell checker, a “did you mean” feature, support for federated searching via Central Search, native Z39.50 search, improved OPAC holdings capabilities, and more.
