Amdursky Named as Director in Des Moines

-- Library Journal, 5/3/2007

Saul Amdursky has been named the new director of the Des Moines Public Library, IA. He has since December 2004 been CEO of the Fraser Valley Regional Library, Abbotsford, BC, and previously directed the Kalamazoo, PL, MI, the 2002 Gale/LJ Library of the Year. He was among five finalists for the Des Moines job. At Fraser Valley, according to a Des Moines library news release, Amdursky helped develop a new strategic plan, reorganized staff, established a marketing department and family literacy initiative, and helped the library budget grow more than 16 percent. He will begin the job July 1. Former director Kay Runge retired in January.
