The Dangers of Automated Selection

The YBP Library Services Community College selection list for Black History Month raised some eyebrows. A book on the not–very–African American heavy metal–band Black Sabbath made the list—until the LISNews.com blog and others pointed out the miscue.

A book about a commercial shipping accident, Black November: The Carl D. Bradley Tragedy, also made the initial cut—a reminder of the need for human oversight.
