New York Times Librarian Awards Announced; Academic Librarians Included

The 2006 New York Times Librarian Awards have been announced, and the six-year-old program has inaugurated a sibling effort to honor three academic librarians. The 21 public librarian winners (down from 27 last year) and three academic librarians will each receive $2500 and a commemorative plaque. The winners, who were selected by a committee of library luminaries, were grouped by city, state, and region, with an emphasis on the Times's home territory.

Queens Borough Public Library:

Brooklyn Public Library:

Roz Pelcyger, Glen Rock Public Library

Connecticut:

Northeast:
