LJ's Hoffert Receives Reviewing Award

Library Journal Book Review Editor Barbara Hoffert won this year's prestigious Louis Shores-Greenwood Publishing Group Award for excellence in book reviewing. Hoffert, who celebrates her 20th anniversary with LJ this April, has been editor of the book review since 1992. She also served as president of the National Book Critics Circle and is former chair of the materials reviewing committee of the American Library Association's Reference and User Services Association. The annual prize recognizes "significant achievement related to a reviewing process that helps librarians make selection decisions." The award includes a citation and a $3000 cash prize. Among previous winners are LJ contributors Cheryl LaGuardia and Nancy Pearl.
