While Project MUSE curates humanities and social science scholarship from around the world, we’ve witnessed the demand for Latin American books on the global market double since 2020. Yet they haven’t always been easy to access – until now.
While Project MUSE curates humanities and social science scholarship from around the world, we’ve witnessed the demand for Latin American books on the global market double since 2020. Yet they haven’t always been easy to access – until now.
Because our mission at MUSE is committed to elevating the global visibility of quality scholarship, we’ve partnered with Latin American university presses and scholarly publishers to bring libraries, scholars and a wide range of readers a wealth of new books in Spanish, published in Latin America.
In order to bring this content onto our platform, we continue to work with many non-profit publishers and those who are part of the Association of University Presses of Latin America and the Caribbean, which represents over 400 university presses across Latin America.
In taking on this initiative, we host a multitude of titles from large and small presses in this region to ensure their content is promoted and discoverable. As part of a university press ourselves, this effort is a fundamental and defining aspect of our mission and business model that differentiates us from some of the larger or commercial platforms.
The team here at MUSE worked with EULAC and the SALALM to establish relationships with dozens of Latin American publishers to bring thousands of new titles in both Spanish and soon Portuguese to the global market.to bring thousands of new titles in both Spanish and soon Portuguese to the global market.
