The authors run the Brooklyn Home Company, and they have divided this title into sections that focus on their company’s guiding principles: lightness, solace, dimension, exchange, memory, artistry, and wonder. Many of the homes are far beyond the reach or everyday experience of most, but the renovations are forward-thinking and retain many elements that make them uniquely Brooklyn. From a sun-drenched kitchen in Park Slope to a spacious Brooklyn Heights living room that looks out at the Statue of Liberty, each space is thoughtfully and impeccably reimagined. There are unexpected spaces as well, such as the 49-foot boat the company transformed as an escape from the city.
