Kill for Love

Picklesimer’s debut novel follows Tiffany, a Los Angeles sorority sister whose days revolve around four key pillars: fitness, self-care, shopping, and socials. Then, a chance frat party hookup takes a nasty turn, awakening a bloodlust in Tiffany and igniting her killing spree, which targets attractive young men. Initially aiming for super-skinny perfection, she adapts her fitness routine to cultivate muscles to kill more efficiently. Despite Tiffany’s superficiality and apparent lack of remorse, listeners glimpse a backstory that includes a strained relationship with her mother and the death of her tough, unsentimental father, who clearly had high hopes for his daughter. Her ability to get away with murder by being an unlikely suspect adds intrigue, while her delicate balance with her boyfriend unravels as he mourns his best friend, who has turned up dead soon after meeting Tiffany. Stefanie Kay’s narration is a standout, flawlessly capturing Tiffany’s callous attitude and shallow personality. Her performance adds an extra dimension to the character, making the unlikable Tiffany a well-rounded mess.
