Each year, ProQuest adds 3,500 streaming titles to this resource; new additions will include more Film Platform documentaries and films from Sony Pictures Classics, Collective Eye, Grasshopper Film, California Newsreel, Third World Newsreel, PBS, and the Economist.

American Mosaic. ABC-CLIO. 

The three databases comprising the American Mosaic Suite—the African American Experience, the Latino American Experience, and the American Indian Experience—have added dozens of new topical reference libraries. Examples of expanded areas of coverage include “The Spanish Conquest of the Inca Empire” and “Unaccompanied Minors” (in the Latino American Experience), “Daily Life and Culture in Enslaved Communities” and “African Americans in Vietnam” (in the African American Experience), and “Native Peoples in New Spain” and “Language Preservation and Renewal” (in the American Indian Experience). The archive of multimedia resources is growing, too. New additions include Scott Joplin ragtime tunes, Dakota-language rap videos, and the poetry of Jupiter Hammon.

Atla produces research tools for the study of religion and theology available on EBSCOhost, including Atla Religion Database®, the premier index of articles, reviews, and essays in all fields of religion and theology, and AtlaSerials® (Atlas®) and AtlaSerials PLUS® (Atlas PLUS®), online full-text collections of major religion and theology journals. Atla Religion Database® (Atla RDB®) recently surpassed more than 3.0 million records, with more than 1,100 journals currently being indexed and 580 titles available in full text. The current title list includes titles from Iceland and Iran, covering material in Icelandic and Persian. In addition, coverage of Korean, Chinese, Arabic, and other content increased. Bolstered by the addition this past year of more than 40 titles that are diverse in terms of publication, language, content, scope, and coverage, Atlas now contains more than 370 full-text titles and Atlas PLUS contains more than 580 full-text titles.

The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology. Wiley. 

Wiley adds 160 entries on financial sociology, social movements, rural sociology, migration, homelessness, social work, media and digital media, social practices, and more. New entries and updates in the “Biographies of Key Figures” section include Gilberto Freyre, Thorstein Veblen, John Stuart Mill, Immaunel Wallerstein, Johan Goudsblom, Theodor Geiger, Erik Olin Wright, and Bonislaw Malinowski.

Bloom’s Literature. Infobase.

New topic centers are being added to Bloom’s Literature. The new Fine Art Topic Center features thousands of high-resolution images, more than 1,500 biographical entries on great artists, in-depth overview articles on major artistic periods and movements, and more than 50 full-length videos from the BBC and National Geographic, among others. The World of Dance Topic Center contains thousands of new entries on dancers, dance subjects, and related topics, along with images and full-length dance videos.

Credo Reference Core Collections. Credo Reference.

Print reference titles will be added to this resource, including Diversity: Understanding and Navigating Discrimination in America (from Omnigraphics) and The SAGE Encyclopedia of Trans Studies, as well as updates from the AllSides RedBlue Dictionary. Primary sources from CQ Press’s series “Historical Documents” and “Political Handbook of the World” will be added, too.

Data Planet. SAGE.

Data Planet, a repository of statistical data, has a new platform with updates. The revised universal header offers a larger search bar, access to “Data Basics” statistical literacy content, unified help options, and a larger space for institutional logos. A new homepage offers a “soft landing” for users (particularly those new to data research and Data Planet), with a three-tabbed browsing panel (users can browse by subject, source, and geography), featured data sets, and access to the “Data Basics” reference library, an entry point to help novice users learn about working with statistics. The updated Data Planet data viewer page has improved left-hand navigation, better criteria selection (with easier ability for multi-select, pop-out boxes for large menus of content, and a sleeker design), simpler iconography for tools (including an embed option), and an improved legend. The search results page is simplified, and filtering capability is enhanced. A new Geography Browse option lets users easily filter results based on geographic location, including county, city, census tract, zip code, and more. Accessibility is improved, too.

Drama Online. Bloomsbury.

A second collection of filmed performances has been added to Drama Online. National Theatre Collection 2 launched with 10 titles, and 10 more will complete the collection in February 2022. New content will include Hedda Gabler (starring Ruth Wilson and Rafe Spall), All My Sons (starring Sally Field and Bill Pullman), and Julie (starring Vanessa Kirby and Eric Kofi Abrefa).

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center. Infobase. 

Infobase adds a Graduate Education Planning section, with nine articles about researching, choosing, and paying for graduate schools. Articles on networking are updated, with two new ones on virtual networking opportunities and strategies. There are 18 new articles on emerging careers, including behavioral health technicians, deepfake professionals, e-sports professionals, live streamers, medical screeners, and technology ethicists.

Films On Demand. Infobase.

Films On Demand regularly adds new content; recent additions from PBS include NOVA: Electric Flight, Frontline: The Virus That Shook the World, and The Soul of America, among many others.

Government Support Index Online. Omnigraphics.

Changes to this resource include updated information on agency contacts, federal funding programs that provide financial and nonfinancial assistance, and deadlines. Increased search functionality will help users identify relevant programs. Interactive tools help determine applicant eligibility, and relevant news highlights offer information on new assistance programs.

Grey House Online Database. Grey House.

Diabetes Handbook & Resource Guide and The Autism Spectrum Handbook & Resource Guide will be added to the Grey House Online Database.

Health Reference Library Premium. Omnigraphics.

The Health Reference Library Premium has been updated to include 75-plus ebooks on diseases and health conditions, information on support groups, increased search functionality, and relevant news highlight updates. Content is also easier to share on social media. Interactive tools and a body mass index (BMI) calculator are coming soon (though often critiqued for its racist origins and inaccuracy, the BMI remains a commonly used measure in medicine).

IGI Global. 

IGI Global converts more than 30 Journals to Full Gold Open Access. This allows authors to publish their work under a CC-BY license, under which they maintain the copyright and others can distribute, adapt, and build upon the work without limitations.

Information Literacy – Core. Infobase.

This resource now features a tutorial on giving virtual and in-person presentations; a two-part tutorial on digital citizenship, complementing the platform’s existing tools on critical thinking and identifying misinformation; updated content on copyright; and material for the ninth edition of the MLA Handbook.

Information Literacy – Health Science. Infobase.

Updates to this health database include a tutorial on the life cycle of medical information and a tutorial on new mental and behavioral health resources.

The International Encyclopedia of Anthropology. Wiley.

The 160 entries added to this resource include gender and sexuality, urban anthropology, religion and belief systems, public dissemination and understanding of anthropology, and evolutionary and biosocial perspectives. There are also three new entries in the “Biographies of Key Figures” section: Roslyn Poignant, Nicolas J. Allen, and David Graeber.

The International Encyclopedia of Geography. Wiley.

Wiley adds new entries on human geography, physical geography, economic geography and regional development, nature-society interactions, and more.

Issues & Controversies. Infobase.

This resource’s redesign will make it quicker to navigate and easier to use. Infobase will add dozens of new issues and new and updated pro/con articles. Curriculum Tools will be thoroughly revised to help students and instructors understand the product, improve critical thinking skills, and expand classroom use. The relaunched database will include more Intelligence Squared U.S. debate videos and NPR Fresh Air podcasts, all curated and linked to relevant articles. The “Bill of Rights in Debate” section will be overhauled to expand coverage.

OA Read and Publish Initiative. IGI Global. 

Libraries that subscribe to IGI Global’s e-Book & e-Journal Collections will receive a matching fund (or in some cases unlimited depending on the agreement reached) of 100 percent open access (OA) article processing change waivers to support their patrons in publishing under OA.

Orlando: A Feminist Resource for the History of Women’s Writing. Cambridge Univ.

This literary-historical resource devoted to women’s writing in the British Isles will move to the Cambridge Core and will get a new interface that meets current standards for accessibility and responsive design. The “help”/“how to” section will explain how to navigate the site. Faceted searching by gender (the database incudes contributions from scholars of different genders examining women’s writing, and users can search by “woman, “nonconforming,” “trans,” “man,” and “unknown”), nationality, genre, time period, and geographic location will be available. Unique tags will support faceting by context. A time line view option will be faceted and filtered by type of event. A “explore” page will display content randomly to allow users to discover material. A “connections” screen will show the relationships between authors, such as when one author mentioned another. An “exhibits” feature will provide images of rare texts and author portraits by researchers who form part of the Orlando community. Users will be able to easily download author profiles. Pedagogical material will be available for instructors. A “contribute” option will let scholars become involved in future updates. COUNTER5 usage reporting will be available.

ProQuest’s collection of dissertations and theses will offer additional research assistance, in-application recommendations, e-learning resources on “how to use a dissertation,” and dynamic source recommendations.

ProQuest One Academic. ProQuest.

ProQuest One Academic, which allows users to cross-search journals, videos, ebooks, news sources, and dissertations in one place, will add Film Platform documentaries (including Ernie & Joe: Crisis Cops and Kiss the Ground); almost 600 new full-text scholarly journals from Springer Nature, Nature Publishing, SAGE, and John Wiley & Sons; thousands of new full-text case studies and working papers; roughly 200,000 new multidisciplinary ebooks, with unlimited, multi-user access; and dissertations from 58 universities all over the world.

Quartex. Adam Matthew Digital.

Quartex, Adam Matthew Digital’s digital collections platform, launches handwritten text recognition (HTR) transcription. Manuscript transcriptions are automated, editable, and fully searchable manuscript transcriptions, generated in-platform with a single click. Further releases this year include the ability to edit audiovisual transcripts and embed audiovisual content both in and out of Quartex-based collections sites.

SAGE Video Criminology & Criminal Justice. SAGE.

This resource adds more than 10 hours of content that explore how societal injustices, international and domestic, affect the criminal justice system and how to reform it. New videos will examine the Three Strikes Justice Center, which works to free prisoners who were sentenced under a three-strikes policy in California that has resulted in many being imprisoned for nonviolent offenses, and community-based policing in marginalized communities.

SAGE adds seven hours of content devoted to helping users understand political events and concepts. New material will include videos from staffers on presidential and Senate election campaigns from 2016 through 2020, breaking down strategies and discussing outcomes and lessons learned.

SAGE Video Psychology. SAGE.

SAGE adds eight hours of content that explore the psychological effect of lockdowns owing to the pandemic, examine clinical diagnoses in the context of culture and human development, debunk inaccurate media depictions of disorders, and more.

SAGE Video Sociology. SAGE.

 Among the more than 11 hours of video content are a tutorial to help users understand their own privilege, case studies on the effects of climate change on the struggle for water and land rights in postcolonial nations, and an exploration of the sociohistorical origins of the term Karen.

Salem Press Database. Salem.

The following print titles will be added to the Salem Press database: the third edition of Working Americans: Social Movements, the fourth edition of the Encyclopedia of African-American Writing, Opinions Throughout History: Free Speech & Censorship, Opinions Throughout History: Workers’ Rights and Wages, and Opinions Throughout History: Church & State.

The Teen Resource Center Premium offers access to more than 35 ebooks on teen financial literacy and health. Users will find more information on support groups, enhanced readability options, increased search functionality, and relevant news highlight updates. Future updates include more interactive tools and a financial loan calculator.

The TESOL Encyclopedia of English Language Teaching. Wiley.

This online encyclopedia adds entries on dyslexia in second-language learning, second-language writing, study abroad and second-language development, neurophysiology of second-language learning, social interaction and language acquisition, and more.

World Geography & Culture. Infobase.

World Geography and Culture’s relaunch includes enhanced search capabilities, a data literacy center, a revamped geography study center, and new content on a range of geography topics, improved data visualization tools, an expanded geography glossary, lesson plans to improve critical literacy skills, and additional maps, full-color images, and full-length videos. Data from the U.S. government and international organizations and content on countries, U.S. states, and Canadian provinces will be updated.
