With 30 different languages to choose from, you improve your vocabulary and grammar with daily quizzes designed to make the experience enjoyable. The app is free to download, but in-app purchases are available if you want to pursue your language further.

Know just a bit of a language but want to improve your fluency? Busuu understands that time is precious and offers an initial quiz to ensure accurate placement. Here, 12 languages are offered with several 10-minute lessons for each. Busuu offers applications for specific language needs for both the tourist and those needing to conduct business abroad. You can use the basic application or pay for a premium membership..

Mango was founded in 2007, with a focus on using technology in order to bridge linguistic and cultural barriers. Focus is placed on everyday conversations while grammar is learned in the background. Mango does a deep dive into specific dialects, such as Castilian Spanish. It also offers application-specific courses for business, medical, and legal use. There is a free two-week trial and then a monthly charge.

Memrise is Language Learninga beneficial app for beginners and intermediate learners. The emphasis is on practical phrasing taught with video clips of real locals. This app is available for both Android and Apple. A lot of free content is available; for comprehensive access and premium features, there is a monthly subscription fee.

Rosetta Stone has been around for almost 30 years. With 25 languages and industry-specific lessons, it has various subscription options. Previously when you bought Rosetta Stone, you had to choose one language per purchase. Now, when you buy a one-year, two-year or lifetime subscription, you can access all languages in the catalog. 

Babbel is for all students looking to learn a new language. Courses offer not just spoken word but also writing, reading and listening to ensure a well-rounded lesson plan. Broken down into 10–15-minute periods, the accessible lessons are voiced by native speakers. Babbel offers subscription plans ranging from one month to a year, and discounts are offered to students and military personnel.
