Night’s (One More Second Chance) romance blends several worlds skillfully with characters in both finance and Hollywood, occasionally getting bogged down in details rather than romance. While she avoids the perils of instant love, readers might find this to be too slow of a slow-burn. Though instantly attracted, it takes quite a bit of time for the characters to act on the attraction. The barriers don’t feel contrived, but some readers might wish for less discussion of a possible relationship and more action. Despite being billed as an enemies-to-lovers tale, they lack a real spark as enemies, which makes the eventual romance feel less exciting.
VERDICT Brisk writing and fine dialogue will delight some, but this romance ultimately lacks a spark.
