Unfinished Business

Told in chapters featuring a rotating set of narrators, the 16th “Ali Reynolds” novel from Jance (Credible Threat) brings two men into Ali’s life. Mateo Vega is a former employee of High Noon, the computer security outfit owned by Ali and her husband B. Simpson; he is paroled after serving 16 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Harvey McCluskey, a down-on-his luck sociopath, vows to get even with Ali and her employee Cami Lee after they try to collect back rent from him. Ali asks her old friend PI J. P. Beaumont for help clearing Mateo’s name. Amid the suspense of foiling a kidnapping and bringing a serial killer to justice, there’s also a subplot involving Ali’s elderly parents. This novel will satisfy longtime fans of Ali Reynolds and would also work as an introduction or a stand-alone read for those unfamiliar with the series.
