Maggie Reynolds hasn’t been back for a summer in Seabrook, NC, since the death of her husband, Ethan, five years ago. Now she’s decided it’s time to move on with her life and plans to share the best memories of Seabrook with her daughter, Zoey, all while saying a final goodbye to the vacation spot. But when the spitting image of Ethan crosses in front of her on the Seabrook boardwalk, those plans go out the window. She immediately calls Josh, her brother-in-law and friend, and they begin the search for Ethan’s doppelgänger. Josh initially balks at spending more time with Maggie; he has tried for years to move on from his deep feelings for her. Soon, however, he realizes he must tell her how he feels, even if it means losing her forever. As they work together to solve the mystery of Ethan’s doppelgänger, Josh realizes his feelings aren’t one-sided, but now Maggie and Josh also face the daunting task of telling their families about their new romance.
VERDICT Hunter’s (Before We Were Us) latest is a charming romance with a little bit of mystery that will warm readers’ hearts.
