This expansive guide, assembled by photographer/travel blogger Hansen and other LGBTQIA+ people who have traveled throughout the world, highlights sites and events that will appeal to a wide variety of interests and personalities. The chapters are organized by continent and color-coded by type of activity. In addition to Pride festivals around the world, the entries include nightlife, bookstores, community resource centers, art installations, neighborhoods, archives, film festivals, and theme weeks. Instead of listing specific dates, times, and fees, the descriptions are short, engaging paragraphs that often provide cultural or historical context and vibrant, colorful photographs. Every listing indicates the type of traveler most likely to be drawn to that place or event. It’s worth noting that the sections about destinations in the United States are not organized strictly state-by-state, and the largest U.S. cities aren’t listed with a state name either. Still, readers interested in a specific place will be able to find it in the index.
VERDICT A beautiful book. Recommended for travel and LGBTQIA+ collections.
