Those seeking information about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will find this guide contains only a few tidbits that further the literature beyond standard reference techniques. Vardell, a doctoral student and teaching fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has compiled an anthology focused largely on search and interview techniques, leading to a resource list that shows little imagination. A recommendation to seek out community health needs assessments required of nonprofit hospitals is the best takeaway stemming from the editor's knowledge of medical librarianship. Even newly minted librarians will pick up on the somewhat pedantic tone used when suggesting sample interviews and surveys.
VERDICT Students may be interested in the differentiation between health literacy and health insurance literacy, or the profiles of librarians in various organizations; however, Libraries and the Affordable Care Act by Francisca Goldsmith, who is one of the contributors to this book, is a better choice for clarity on specific provisions of the ACA and its rollout. Experienced information professionals should consult Goldsmith's book for its thorough organization and richer content.
