The Good Boy

Genie loves her family, but she’s tired of the constant questions and endless advice about her perpetual single status. On the eve of her birthday, her grandmother offers her a gift: a single, irreversible wish. There are rules attached, of course, but since Genie has never believed that her family is actually magical, she doesn’t really pay attention. Which is why, after arriving home drunk and sad, Genie accidentally turns her faithful dog Rory into a human being, which Rory absolutely does not like or appreciate. Her mother and grandmother claim it’s permanent, but Genie has to find a way to turn Rory back and enlists her neighbor and childhood friend Miles to help. Spending so much time with Miles reminds Genie of how much she enjoys his company, and she begins to realize their friendship could be something more. But does Miles feel the same? Readers will be a few steps ahead of Genie as they root for her to find the magic she’s looking for.
