The Ghosts That Haunt Me: Memories of a Homicide Detective

Ryan, a retired police officer-turned reporter, relates his life in this book. Ryan had no inkling of what he wanted to do, so he attended his high school’s Career Day. When he reviewed the brochures from various vendors, the Metropolitan Toronto Police’s cadet program caught his attention. He applied, got accepted, and became a police officer when he turned 21. Eventually, he became a homicide detective and endured the horrors associated with investigating crime scenes, some of which, particularly those of murdered children, took a toll on him. Six cases will forever remain etched into his mind, and those are the ones he showcases in this book that illuminates how reality touches the soul of the policeman.
