OrangeReviewStarMG (Michael-Grace) Martin was disowned by her parents when she dropped out of law school to write comic books. She's made her own family, which includes a drag queen and her gamer roommate, but it isn't until she bumps into a cop that she comes into her own. MG recognizes his crime scene as one starring her favorite superhero, the Hooded Falcon, and quickly becomes Detective Matteo Kildaire's consultant for the drug-related crimes that leave behind a golden arrow. But MG keeps dangerous secrets from Matteo when her best friend appears to be a suspect. This fast-paced debut stars a kick-butt heroine and a cast of unconventional characters. The likable, sometimes awkward characters are well developed throughout this humorous, engaging novel.
VERDICT With its connections to the gaming and comics world, Molin's original debut will appeal to young and new adults as well as superhero and comics fans.
