The Art of the Flower

This book is majestic. Famed floral designer Leatham—known in the industry as the flower whisperer—intended for this book to be a love letter to flowers, and he certainly achieves that goal. With stunning, full-color photographs of lush and exotic flowers arranged by Leatham, it’s meant to be inspirational, not instructional. The images are creative art installations that possess a beauty that’s awe-inspiring. Colors range from serenely monochromatic, such as an arrangement of white calla lilies hanging upside down, to bursts of fuchsia, chartreuse, and more. Readers are treated to a multitude of flowers in unusual scenarios, such as waves of pastel pink roses formed like a carpet that covers a wall. The title also includes floral designs categorized by occasions such as weddings and holidays. The author utilizes his background as artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris to showcase impressive hotel lobby and still-life arrangements.
VERDICT Highly recommended for any collection where interior design or gardening books are popular.
