Seven Mercies

The Novantae resistance is on the run and in hiding after a surprise ambush. With two empires looking for the rebels, the crew of Zelus forages on old outposts for food and other supplies while the rebel organization known as the Seven Devils is holding on by a proverbial thread. As the rebellion tries to gather itself back together, the crew finds themselves facing a new threat: the Oracle, the Empire’s AI aims to take over everyone in the galaxy—creating mindless shells called gerulae—unless the Oracle’s “daughter,” the humanoid Ariadne, returns. The Devils know their next mission is risky but they’re willing to sacrifice everything for one last shot at freedom. The narrative perspective alternates between all the protagonists, giving readers a 360-degree view by taking a deep dive into characters’ psyches and past traumas and how those influence their present.
