The Crinoline Academy, an unassuming school for young ladies, sits outside London where it trains the best and brightest to fit in seamlessly with Victorian society while using their skills to dismantle the patriarchy from within. Euphemia Flite has been tasked with exposing a political leader’s misdeeds to clear the way for legislation benefitting women. Unfortunately, Gabriel Royce, a powerful figure from the rookeries of St. Giles, needs the same man to pave the way for reforms in the slums. Euphemia’s and Gabriel’s goals may be at odds, but that doesn’t prevent the sizzling attraction the outsiders feel for each other. Soon they’ll have to decide between fulfilling their aims or sacrificing their principles for a chance at love. This series opener may be mild on the heat scale, but the chemistry between the two leads is scorching. Readers will thrill at the will-they-won’t-they cat-and-mouse game while they root for the villain’s deserved downfall.
