Most people dream of living the rock star life, but for Theo Decker, lead singer of popular group Riven, it's a nightmare. He hates being mobbed by fans and forced to disguise himself to sneak out to local stores. But he lives for the music, so he keeps going even though he's slowing dying inside. On one of Theo's midnight rambles, he stumbles across Caleb Blake Whitman, a bluesy musician playing for his own satisfaction in a rundown bar. Caleb's music calls to Theo, but Caleb is leery of being drawn back into the music world, even if eventually he and Theo do scorch the sheets. The music world chewed Caleb up, pulled him into a whirlwind of addiction and rehab, and spit him out. Even his growing love for Theo may not be enough to save him from another fall, and Theo must decide where he really wants his life to go.
