The hardworking CEO of her own fashion brand, Josephine Davis is getting ready to take her company to the next level, but she could use a little marketing savvy. Then Will Grant, her best friend’s twin brother, literally runs into her car with his bike. While Josephine and Will fell out years ago, now they embark on a new relationship with Will as Josephine’s business consultant. The two colleagues fight to keep things strictly business as the chemistry between them grows. However, Josephine lives in Austin, and Will lives in New York, which forces them to decide conclusively if a lasting relationship could be possible between them. The novel is told from the perspectives of both Josephine and Will, and narrator Katharine Leonard makes an admirable attempt at reading both the parts. Even so, her voices for Will and other male characters are somewhat forced and unrealistic, which makes for an uneven presentation.
VERDICT Despite the occasionally rocky narration, Gilmore’s (Love Interest) low-heat workplace romance may appeal to fans of Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game or Emily Henry’s Funny Story.
