VERDICT Against the backdrop of World War II, this complex romance is the perfect example of how the right person will accept another’s flaws unconditionally. Fans of Dickson’s (The Orphan Sisters) earlier books will recognize familiar characters but need not have read those previous works in any particular order to enjoy this latest stand-alone.
