Beatley, an urban planning professor, here hosts a brisk tour of some "blue cities" that are making connections to the ocean via topics such as marine education, sustainable seafood, sea-level rise, and coastline management. Viewers glimpse Baltimore's National Aquarium, which is operating innovative programs; a nature center in Biscayne, FL; and a sustainable seafood nonprofit advising restaurants in San Francisco. Miami, FL, is upgrading public infrastructure against sea-level rise. New York has a South Staten Island breakwater seeded with oysters and a storm-resilient Brooklyn Bridge Park. In the Netherlands, Rotterdam is constructing floating buildings and flood-absorbing public spaces, aiming to be "climate proof" by 2025.
