Set in the wilds of Buck’s Creek, MT, in 1887, this romance is laugh-out-loud funny and contains both emotional sweetness and high-heat content. Morgan McBride has had his share of tribulations, including burying his mama, but nothing compares to his sister Junebug and her penchant for procuring brides for him out of the mail-order marriage catalogue. When Epiphany “Pip” Hopgood and her Granny Colefax step off the train from Nebraska, expecting a wedding, only Morgan’s little sister could be responsible. But it turns out that Pip cooks like a dream and has bewitching curves; leave it to Junebug to order up the best dish in all of Montana. Refusing to succumb to temptation, Morgan leaves on his cattle drive but finds the work a poor substitute for the voluptuous Pip and her delicious meals. The novel’s Junebug is like Ramona Quimby if she had been raised by a pack of wolves and with an immense vocabulary.
VERDICT Settle in and get comfy for another entertaining adventure with the McBrides of Buck’s Creek, following Kit McBride Gets a Wife.
