When thinking of macramé people may first be reminded of the macramé fad from 1970s home fashion, but the art of tying knots has existed for centuries. This text from Wilson (Now I Can Paper Craft) and Hamilton (How To Cross Stitch) claims to be for beginners, though more than a rudimentary knowledge of macramé is needed to begin any project in the book. The designs, ranging from macramé decorations to practical projects for plant hangers and grocery bags, are interesting and beautiful, but instructions for even basic knots are difficult to understand. Full-color illustrations lend some assistance to the steps for completion and help with the instructions for each project.
VERDICT A solid choice for anyone already familiar with macramé, but too advanced for the true beginner.
