Is Digital Different? How Information Creation, Capture, Preservation and Discovery Are Being Transformed

Editors Moss (archival science, Univ. of Northumbria), Barbara Endicott-Popovsky (executive director, Ctr. for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, Univ. of Washington, Seattle), and Marc J. Dupuis (cybersecurity, Univ. of Washington, Seattle) aim to introduce information students to issues inherent in the transition from an analog to a digital environment in this compilation of chapters by information professionals from the United States, the UK, and Australia. (The book uses British spellings.) The level of detail, as well as the narrative voices, differs from section to section, keeping the work engaging. However, some segments, especially those on cybersecurity issues, dive deeper than an introductory essay. Most authors discuss the roles of information professionals in the transition, which will certainly be helpful to students. Each chapter includes references, notes, and links to other resources. All are well researched, and David Nicholas and David Clark's "Finding Stuff" is particularly thorough.
