For the bevy of gardeners devoted to growing flowers for cutting (either for personal joy or selling), there is a lovely collection of titles, some focused more on how-to, others on arranging, but all offering insight and instruction. To this list, readers will want to add Romain and Mogendorff’s debut. The two run the Wolves Lane Flower Company in London and have built a business of growing and selling flowers focused on seasonality and regenerative practices. Their book is a fascinating read. Arranged by season, starting in autumn, it is detailed and educational. Each season includes information on soil building, maintenance, and feeding. Seeds are addressed per season as well, as are the key tasks of tending a garden/greenhouse as it moves through autumn, winter, spring, and summer. Harvesting is likewise presented seasonally. Each chapter offers something to make as well, be that a wreath or an arrangement. Plant lists and a calendar help readers plan and dream. Resource lists, from books to suppliers to an image index, provide more assistance.
VERDICT As lovely as it is useful, this book will likely appeal to fans of Erin Benzakein.
