When the body of a young woman who disappeared five years earlier is found near a mountain creek, the police in the small isolated area of Snowdonia, in northern Wales, are baffled. What begins as a murder investigation, however, soon turns into something much larger and more sinister. For Detective Inspector Cadi John (Sian Reese-Williams), who recently returned home to help care for her ailing father, the case may be an opportunity to get to the bottom of several other unsolved and seemingly unrelated abductions. This compelling eight-part drama, which is almost entirely in Welsh with English subtitles, is notable for its plot, script, and performances, as well as its distinctive setting and deliberate pacing.
VERDICT As a police procedural, this atmospheric miniseries is a cut above the competition; for audiences who enjoy suspenseful crime dramas.
