In this memoir with hints of self-help, tetired executive Miller draws parallels between the evolution of her life and that of Disney princesses. Miller hopes to find her Prince Charming and live happily ever after as a stay-at-home mother. When Miller realizes that her Prince Charming lacks the necessary ambition to provide their children an upscale lifestyle, she pours her energy into her career, which culminates in a vice-president position. As Miller’s career steadily progresses, her personal life suffers. Discarding Prince Charming, Miller marries the ultimate toad who takes advantage of her financially and threatens her safety. Once she dumps the toad and ultimately retires from corporate life, Miller finally has energy to focus on her personal life and achieve happiness. The comparisons to Disney princesses seem forced and do not add significantly to the narrative.
VERDICT Best suited for large libraries with expansive memoir collections.
