Dylan McBride believed that Jessie Thompson was dead—murdered as a teenager by her father. But when a funeral brings Jessie out of hiding, Dylan thinks he has miraculously been given a second chance with his childhood sweetheart. Jessie was hiding for a reason, though, and her return forces secrets to be revealed and the couple to overcome a variety of issues, old and new.
VERDICT While the premise here is intriguing and lends itself to some dramatic twists and turns, the story drags a bit with too much exposition. Still, fans of Ryan's previous McBride novels (The Return of Brody McBride; Falling for Owen) will enjoy this addition to the series.
