As a student-athlete on the dive team at Stanford University, Scarlett has other priorities than many people her age: sex isn’t a top concern for her, and anyhow, she hasn’t been able to find anyone who’s interested in what really turns her on. When swim captain Lukas Blomqvist breaks up with Scarlett’s teammate, Scarlett learns that it’s because of his dom-sub desires, which happen to complement her own inclinations. Hazelwood (Not in Love) presents a sizzling contemporary romance about athletics, ambition, and authenticity. Narrators Thérèse Plummer and Ben Holtzmuller bring a fantastic chemistry to the complex characters. Plummer carries the bulk of the narrative, told in Scarlett’s first-person perspective, but Holtzmuller voices the men, skillfully navigating a variety of accents, from American to Australian, including one very sexy Swede.
