Pokorny (blogger, Crochetverse) brings her fun and quirky patterns to the physical realm with this, her first book. Aimed at beginning crocheters, this title includes patterns for accessories and toys for all ages. Each pattern is very easy to read and clearly denotes hook size, type of yarn appropriate, special stitches needed, and more information aimed at helping the crafter succeed. The patterns are simple and exciting, with bright colors and innovative ideas; for example, projects include a wrap with an owl hood, and a scarf that folds into a hamburger. Some of the most unique portions of the book are Pokorny’s special stitch features, where she describes in detail how to do a new stitch, with highly detailed instructions and photographs of each step. Overall, this is a wonderful introductory book for aspiring crocheters and those who love simple and effective designs. Fans of Twinkie Chan’s Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies will thoroughly enjoy these patterns.
VERDICT In her excellent first book, Pokorny gives us quick and easy designs that are eye-catching and whimsical.
