Close as children, sisters Waverly and Charlie Talbot have gone their separate ways as adults. Waverly pursued her dream of becoming a celebrity chef and now hosts the successful TV show Simply Perfect. Charlie lives in Budapest, Hungary, and works for an international aid group dealing with human trafficking. Reunited for the funeral of their aunt, the two realize how much they have missed and needed each other. Waverly is shocked when her sister offers to help her by becoming a surrogate for the child Waverly cannot conceive. But when both discover that they may lose their careers, Waverly and Charlie band together and embark on an adventure across Central Europe.
VERDICT Linden (Ascension of Larks) tackles the issue of sex trafficking deftly and with sensitivity. Provocative prose and a twisty plot will engage readers. Devotees of Elin Hilderbrand and Catherine West will appreciate this one.
