Now in its 40th year, the Pritzker Architecture Prize continues to bring attention to the field of architecture through the annual selection—by independent jury—of a living architect or partnership to honor. As of 2017, 44 Pritzker Prize laureates (37 individuals and three partnerships) have been named, and they represent some of the world's most influential architects. In this volume, editor and author Peltason and Yan (architectural history, IE Univ., Moore Coll. of Art & Design) gather quotes from all the laureates and present them alongside photographs and sketches of their projects. The result is a concise compendium of the thoughts on architecture, inspirations, and methods of this august group as well as their take on some common themes such as sustainability. The quotes are mainly from published interviews, lectures, books, or other writings by the architects, and the featured projects and quotations include those made before and after the architect was named a laureate. This revised edition includes the prize winners through 2017.
VERDICT A worthwhile addition to any architecture collection, this book brings together in one volume the voices of some of the most well-known architects in the world.
