The book draws on Carmen’s own experiences: first, fitting herself into a male-dominated legal profession; then working at a successful for-profit run solely by women. Her 12-point guide includes such directives as letting go of comparisons, expecting only the unexpected, and believing that “maybe” things will be all right. Carmen provides exercises after each chapter, to help readers instill positive beliefs and encourage them to take healthy actions.

VERDICT Nothing new, but helpful for professional-class women stuck in neutral and unsure how to proceed.
