This "visual guide" is just that—a colorfully illustrated book for Christian believers, exploring the birth, life, and death of Jesus through the places where the events of his life took place. Martin, along with his coauthors John A. Beck (Trinity International Univ.) and David G. Hansen (Trinity Theological Seminary), based it upon the syllabus for his Bible World Seminars and its study program in Israel. Broken into eight parts, the book makes easy reading for those wanting a good overview of the events of the Gospels by means of maps and photographs and illustrations of the land, towns, buildings, archaeological sites, models of buildings, etc. The authors do a nice job of explaining events and places from the perspective of the New Testament, but those readers seeking a scholarly or scientific approach should look elsewhere.
VERDICT A lively look at the life and death of Jesus told through easy-to-read chapters; best for interested general readers.
