Information technology is constantly evolving, with advances in areas like big data, deep learning, cloud storage and large-scale processing. Alongside the tremendous benefits this yields, there are needs to ensure security and reducing privacy risks due to hostile actors, human error, and technology failure. In response, data protection regimes and regulations have been crafted across industries to promote multi-layered security and privacy frameworks, privacy-by-design, proactive risk management and continuous monitoring process. 

Technological advancements and increased protection measures are required to protect the library industry. Libraries adhere to globally recognized security practices and institutional policies that require continuous monitoring of systems, reliable incident response, and rapid disaster recovery. 

What can libraries and library staff do to mitigate the cybersecurity risk? This session will detail how Ex Libris maintains a wide spectrum of cybersecurity, privacy, and business continuity frameworks and certifications to ensure it meets customer requirements while ensuring peace of mind to libraries, librarians, and their patrons.
