Unfortunately, this stand-alone novel from Vanek (Rescue from Darkness) has a convoluted plot and a rather unconvincing second-chance romance.

Devoted readers of the series will consider this a must-read, as all of the loose threads of the prior books are finally wrapped up here. Cartoonish villains with over-the-top motivations, however, mean that everyone else would be fine giving it a pass.
