Six charming stories, from author Janette Oke, carry forward the lives of the early 20th-century Canadians living in the frontier town of Hope Valley that Hallmark Channel viewers have grown to love. Featured are teacher Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow); her fiancé Mountie Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing), whose assignment often keeps him far away; Mayor Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin), a widow who sees good in everyone, and Sheriff Bill Avery (Jack Wagner), whose grumpiness offsets the sweetness of the others. The six episodes explore matters of great importance to the town, such as the railroad's decision not to put a station in Hope Valley or the trial of the former mayor for embezzlement, and of great importance to individuals, such as the appearance of Elizabeth's sister who wants to become a teacher, too. If the women are a little too pretty and the men too good looking; and miracles always seem to happen—well, that's to be expected from Hallmark. This series is professional grade through and through, and, once hooked, viewers will love these stories.
VERDICT Recommended especially for family viewing.
