Good Karma is a small hospital in rural India managed by British expat Dr. Lydia Fonseca (Amanda Redman) and featuring a dedicated staff. Young Dr. Ruby Walker (Amrita Acharia) has made a satisfying life for herself at Good Karma after leaving an unfulfilling hospital job and a failed romance in England. Her new colleagues provide the extended family she never had—Ruby's father had abandoned her and her mother in England and returned to India when Ruby was a child. When she learns that her father's brother (unknown to her) wants to meet, Ruby is thrilled but later is forced to reexamine her assumptions about her parent.
VERDICT Series 2 successfully expands viewers' understanding of the main players, while the Indian location and culture contribute a colorful setting. Recommended for serial drama devotees.
