Records Collecting Dust II

78 min. Jason Blackmore, dist. by MVDvisual, www.mvdb2b.com. 2018. DVD UPC 760137122197. $19.95. MUSIC
This chronicle consists of interviews with members of hard-core punk bands from the 1980s and focuses on activities in Boston, New York, and Washington, DC. It features members of Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Minor Threat, and The Freeze and examines the favorite bands, albums, and songs that inspired these rockers in their youth. The interviews themselves are spliced together and flow quickly from one artist to the next in 30-second or longer segments. Director Blackmore (Records Collecting Dust I) uses several cameras but does nothing unique or groundbreaking with the footage. For viewers, the film becomes repetitive and stagnates as many of the 28 interviewees choose similar artists (e.g., the Beatles, Kiss, and The Who) as their musical influencers.
VERDICT Recommended only for hard-core punk fans.
