My Kind of Cowboy

Forever: Grand Central. (Wranglers of Wyoming, Bk. 1). May 2020. 656p. ISBN 9781538716847. pap. $8.99. CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Wyoming rancher Brand Merrick isn’t pleased when his family arranges for a physical therapist to stay at the ranch for six weeks to help his leg heal after a serious accident. But when he meets beautiful Avery Grant, he is quickly captivated by her enthusiasm to learn about mountain ranch life and her refusal to be deterred by his terrible attitude toward therapy. For Avery, the assignment in Devil’s Door, across the country in from her hometown in Michigan, is just the change of scenery she needs. Avery is drawn to both ranch life and the handsome cowboy in her care, but has she traveled far enough to escape a disturbing mystery from home?
VERDICT The first book in Ryan’s (The Cowboy Next Door) new series should satisfy readers in search of a contemporary Western romance with a touch of suspense. The start may be a bit slow for readers who want to dive immediately into the romance, but those who appreciate learning the details of family dynamics and ranch life will enjoy getting to know the colorful, multigenerational Merrick clan and the citizens of Devil’s Door.
