Maybe Next Time

Warm Hues Creative. (Vegas Nights, Bk. 1). Feb. 2021. 94p. ebk. ISBN NA. $3.99. CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Kensa is done with her husband, Denver. They don’t communicate, and she thinks he’s sleeping around since he sure isn’t sleeping with her. Bring on the divorce. Denver doesn’t see why Kensa is shutting him out. They both have demanding careers—he owns an accounting firm, and she’s involved in her family’s transportation business—but she’s the only woman for him and has been since they met. They communicate fine between the sheets, but there’s more to a marriage than sex. And if they can’t talk about the heartbreak that brought them to this point, maybe their marriage really is over.
VERDICT Jones returns to the setting of her “High Stakes” series with this steamy series launch. Readers unfamiliar with the characters may be a bit lost at first, and Denver comes across as arrogant at the beginning, but Jones’s writing will pull readers in, and they’ll be asking for the backstory. Recommended for libraries owning the “High Stakes” series or able to purchase all titles together.
