St. Martin’s. May 2020. 464p. ISBN 9781250207104. $28.99. CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
One awful night changed former child star Caitlyn Sullivan’s life, but now she has returned to Los Angeles and Big Sur in hopes of moving past that childhood trauma. Yet the past does not want to stay there, and it is coming back with a vengeance. Cate must learn to trust again and survive this new danger, but she is not alone. Dillon Cooper, the boy who found her on the darkest night of her life, is there to help again. Roberts (Shelter in Place) brings readers another excellent, suspenseful romance that they will not be able to put down. She has created two new families with deep ties to each other and will make readers want to visit the beautiful landscapes she describes. Though some readers will likely figure out the twists and turns early in the book, the emotional investment Roberts creates and the slow sizzle of this romance will make them hold on to the end.
VERDICT Roberts’s legions of fans will want to add Caitlyn Sullivan’s story to their lists. [See Prepub Alert, 11/11/19.]
