Circle of Dust is the brainchild of Klayton (Scott Albert) and was an industrial band in the 1990s. This documentary covers the beginning of the group in Klayton's parents' basement to signing to a label to the tours and the dissolution of the band owing to terrible luck, bad contracts, and studio bankruptcies. Klayton and the touring members of the band offer candid interviews about their time together, with bootleg video footage helping to display their excellent live shows. The first DVD has extras including a short documentary on Argyle Park (another Klayton project) and a study of the gear used to make the music; the second disc has bootlegs of concert footage and music videos. A short booklet with photos completes the package.
VERDICT An ultimately uplifting film not only about Circle of Dust but also about committing to creativity and continuing through adversity. Recommended for any fan of industrial music and the mid-1990s alternative music scene.
