OrangeReviewStarNot everyone grew up with a father who taught car basics before handing over the car keys. Sports reporter Lillie and British author McCormick (Essential Car Care For Girls, 2008) provide sound instruction to car novices. Explanations of automobile systems are concise and clear. The emphasis is on the important bits—what owners should do to keep their vehicle in good condition and when to turn it over to a professional. Emergency fixes and how to buy a new or used car round out this nifty manual.
VERDICT This is a good update for Julie Sussman & Stephanie Glakas-Tenet's Dare To Repair Your Car. As it lacks an overwhelming amount of mechanical instruction, this book proves useful and approachable. It will appeal to high school to adult audiences, male or female, though guys may be leery of the pink cover. Very strongly recommended.
