OrangeReviewStarLeder, whose brother committed suicide at age 13, aims to assist those who have lost loved ones to suicide as well as those who are on the brink. This completely revised and updated second edition of the author's widely acclaimed and comprehensive work first published 30 years ago expands on her valuable perspective and covers everything from the amount of homework children should be given to suicide warning signs. Leder destroys suicide myths (e.g., they're just looking for attention) and emphasizes the importance of being able to read and understand (usually) young people who see no other alternatives to dealing with anxiety or depression.
VERDICT Leder has been there and is trained to prevent others from having to suffer suicide's consequences. An excellent book for our time.
