A tragic accident has left Preston Rogers (Matt McCoy) paraplegic and his loving wife deceased. His condescending nurse Otis brings him back to the mountain cabin he used to call home for the first time since the accident. Using an obnoxious brand of drunken tough love to get Preston engaged in life again, Otis plans to ensure that his patient stays put. Armed with only anxiety and binoculars, Preston can't help but notice the mysterious and hirsute creature hanging out in the woods surrounding the shack. The beast seems to be attracted to the bevy of young women who have rented the house next door for a girlfriends' weekend getaway. Before long, the hairy lurker's cannibalistic inclinations are revealed, but can Preston maneuver his wheelchair around his once comfortable cabin to alert his unsuspecting neighbors in time?
VERDICT With genre veterans such as Jeffrey Combs and Lance Henriksen on board as local hunters, Abominable delivers a fun, low-budget horror excursion in the vein of Rear Window, only with more carnage-reveling Yeti action than the Hitchcock classic.
